痕 Scar (2014)

Time heals all wounds. The pain lessens, but the scar remains.

This work stems from a single photograph of a surgery scar. Physical damage is applied directly on the print and the process of which is documented. This project seeks to explore the graphical reinterpretation of pain on a photo of a scar that ceases to hurt. The gradual destruction of the print defies the chronological order in which a scar heals.

This series is a retelling of the story of a scar and the visualization of its past sensations. Accompanied by the audio recording of the artist’s father’s recount of the healing process of his wound, the experience of pain suffered through the course is conveyed vocally and visually.
